Billing and cancellation policies agreement form

Please read these billing and cancellation policies. Acceptance of our billing and cancellation policies is required in order to participate in our private or group lesson programs.

 

Billing and Payment for 2016 – 2017

 

Private Lessons

Billing for private lessons is by semester, with a monthly payment option available. The fall semester will run 20 weeks, from August 22, 2016 through January 21, 2017, and the Winter/Spring semester will run 19 weeks, from January 23, 2017 – June 10, 2017. You only need to register once for the entire academic year. If you enrolled in private lessons for the first semester we will invoice you for the second semester, unless you inform us that you are not continuing. As always, you will be able to discontinue lessons at any time, with no penalty. If you discontinue lessons before the end of a semester you will be refunded for any pre-paid lessons you will not be taking.

Payment Options

Starting this fall we will have an on-line payment option available. To pay your tuition you may use any of the following options:

  • Pay the full semester’s tuition in advance, either in person by check, cash, or credit/debit card, or on-line by credit or debit card. If you pay in-full prior to your first scheduled lesson you will receive a 1.5% discount.
  • Pay monthly using stored credit card. Your semester’s tuition will be divided into five equal payments, and payments would be processed once a month. Any charges or credits added to your account during the course of the semester would be reflected in your monthly payments. There is no discount or added fee for this payment option.
  • Pay in two installments, no credit card information is stored. You will pay 50% of the tuition bill prior to your first lesson of the semester, and the balance will be due halfway through the semester. There will be a $5 fee to use this payment option.

Cancelling/rescheduling private lessons

Students are expected to attend all lessons and classes for which they are registered. Notification of a lesson cancellation by the student is a courtesy to the teacher but does not excuse payment for the lesson. An excused absence may be rescheduled at the teacher’s discretion. To be eligible for an excused absence, the student must contact the teacher directly at least 24 hours in advance. Students are entitled to only one make-up per semester due to an excused absence. Make-ups must be completed within the semester and may not carry over into a new semester. Unexcused absences will not be made up. If, however, the teacher cancels a lesson for any reason, the lesson will be made up, a substitute will be provided, or your account will be credited.

Lesson cancellations for religious observance are allowed. We prefer that you let us know of any religious conflicts with your lesson schedule at the point of registration, so that we can remove those lesson dates from our schedule and your bill.

 

Discontinuing private lessons

If for any reason you wish to discontinue lessons you may do so at any time. To discontinue lessons you must either call the office at 847 205 4689, send us an e-mail at info@laughlinschool.com. Once we receive your request we will adjust your account, deleting any remaining lesson for the semester from your invoice. A full refund for any pre-paid lessons that you will not be taking will be mailed to you.

 

Group lesson billing 

For classes each billing period is generally 8 weeks long.Invoices for tuition will be sent by e-mail. Payment must be made in full prior to the start of each session.

 

Group lesson/class cancellation policies:

  • Students may withdraw from class up to 24 hours prior to the first class meeting with a full refund. No refunds for withdrawing from class will be offered beyond that point.
  • In the case of a student cancelling or failing to attend a class, with or without advance notice, no refunds, rescheduling, or make-up classes will be offered.
  • If the school or the instructor has to cancel a class, a make-up class will be scheduled. If a student does not accept the make-up class the student will be sent a refund for that class. If the student does accept the make-up class, but then cancels or fails to attend the make-up class, no refund will be issued.

Summer Private Lessons

 

Students who choose to take private lessons over the summer may register for lessons on the weeks they are available for lessons, with no minimum number of lessons required. Students who take at least five lessons over the summer will be able to take advantage of early registration for the following fall session. Once the summer session starts, the same rules on cancellations apply as during the academic year.
